O Nosso Fado

In 2022, Quarteto Tejo, a Portuguese string quartet (Prémio Jovens Músicos, 2019), received a grant from the Académie Musicale de Villecroze to develop a project linked to fado, the traditional musical genre of Lisbon. They convened three 'fadistas' - a poet, a singer and a guitarist - in a villa in the south of France to collaborate on a repertoire of traditional fados.

O nosso fado (Our Fado/Our Fate) chronicles this encounter while attempting to paint a picture of contemporary fado, its twists and turns and its seductive bohemian atmosphere, as fertile ground for experimentation.
